Instructional Beliefs
Learning
At my core, I am a constructivist, so learning is based on the idea that people construct their own understanding of the world they live in by reflecting on experiences (Brown & Green, 2020). I believe that learning is a deeply personal, active, and lifelong process. People learn best when they are able to apply new information with confidence and make connections to prior knowledge and real-world experiences. The learning process should be meaningful and flexible enough to accommodate individual learner goals and needs.

Teaching
Although I do not come from a traditional teaching background, I believe teaching is about facilitating discovery and understanding while inspiring curiosity. I have served as a “knowledge sharer,” leading trainings, onboarding team members, and creating clear, accessible resources. To me, teaching, particularly in an adult setting, is about creating environments where learners feel empowered, curious, and confident in their ability to grow. Overall, Knowles’ self-directed learning aligns with my beliefs: adults are self-directed learners who bring life experiences to the learning process (1975).

Instructional Technology
I believe that instructional technology makes learning more accessible, equitable, and engaging. Instructional Technology can make personalized learning achievable through tools and methods like gamification, eLearning, interactive modules, and virtual reality. When creating instructional materials, I use my background in software and quality assurance, along with my knowledge in UX design, to ensure that the technology I incorporate into learning is not just functional but also intuitive and inclusive.
